To mark World Alzheimer's Day on September 21, 2020, the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka is hosted an online concert presented by Country 102 FM and supported by Sawdust City Brewery and Quemby Electric. Country music star Deric Ruttan performed live from his home in Nashville. He was joined by Makayla Lynn, Isaac Boyes and Honeymead.

With all in-person programs and services temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, many people living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia are feeling very isolated at home. The goal of this 'Night Out' is to boost everyone's spirits and help raise some much-needed funds to support the charity.

All money raised stays in our community to support programs and services for families impacted by dementia in Muskoka and Parry Sound. To add to the excitement, Bracebridge Falls will be illuminated in blue on September 21st to raise awareness and challenge the stigma associated with dementia. Everyone is encouraged to get involved by wearing blue and to learn as much as they can about the disease.

“World Alzheimer’s Day is a great opportunity for us to recognize and support those in our families and communities who are affected by dementia. A lot of people still don’t really understand what dementia is or how it affects people.” says Karen Quemby, Executive Director, at the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka. “The way to understanding and acceptance is through knowledge and having open discussions, which is why we’re hosting this event.”
