Thank you for your support of Oma's Ride

A perfect fall day was the best backdrop for cyclists and supporters of Oma's Ride on Sunday, Sept. 28.
Oma's Ride started in 2024 as a way to honour Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County CEO's own grandmother/Oma Anna, who was the matriarch of her family for many years.
Studies have proven exercise can boost your brain power, and the second-annual event saw cyclists riding 20, 50 or 100 kilometres through the backroads of Simcoe County and Muskoka.
Participants were able to grab a free coffee or lemonade during the day, while members of the Barrie Art Club sketched and painted scenes from host partner Quayle's Brewery.
The OPP and volunteer members of the motorcade ensured riders stayed safe along the routes, and we are grateful for their assistance.
The Barrie Colts' own Carley Horse -- yes, Carley, not Charlie -- made an appearance and posed for photos with guests.
Just as riders celebrated after crossing the finish line, the ASSC is celebrating another successful event, which raised more than $43,800 for social programs in Simcoe County. All the money raised from Oma's Ride stays in the community, helping the more than 11,500 people living with dementia in the area.
