Drop-in Programming
We offer drop-in programs that anyone can attend immediately.
Our Brain Wave Cafés provide a friendly place for people concerned about cognitive change & dementia and care partners to meet up on a regular basis for a coffee, conversation and fun.
Support Groups for care partners run once monthly (excluding statutory holidays) and are open to anyone.
Other Programming
We have a wide variety of support, education and social recreation programs. All programs (with the exception of Drop-In Programs above) require a referral be made through our First Link® program. First Link® assesses each referral for eligibility and connects the individual and their family to appropriate community supports in addition to a range of programs and services that we offer.
Eligibility Criteria
The Society programs and services are open to those who support or reside within the 12 municipalities of the Niagara Region. This includes but is not limited to people living with dementia, persons caring for a person living with dementia, health care professionals and the public. In accordance with the Society’s commitment to equity, ineligible clients may be given access to programs and services, with the approval of the Society’s Executive. Societies may redirect any ineligible individuals to other Alzheimer Society locations, as appropriate.
In cases where eligibility for a specific program or service is not immediately known, the client will be referred to the First Link Coordinator, who may screen for eligibility. If programs and services are unavailable, the client may be placed on a waitlist and/or in the alternative, referred to other internal or external services, where appropriate.
