Role Description
Title: Fundraising Volunteer
Location: Throughout the Niagara Region
Assigned Supervisor: Manager of Fund Development, Coordinator of Volunteer Programs
Time Commitment: Event Specific
Role Summary
Our Fundraising and Events Volunteers support the programs and services at the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region in many fundraising initiatives and special events. Fundraising volunteers assist with various tasks throughout the planning and culmination of our fundraising events. Volunteers are involved with a variety of tasks but may include registration, information, marshalling, education, committee members, planning, administration support, behind-the-scenes, food preparation, event day support and monitoring, sponsorship recruitment, and more.
Primary Responsibilities
Committee Members
- Assist with the planning of the event
- Assist in securing donations (both cash and in-kind)
- Assist in recruiting event participants
- Assist with event promotion and various other duties as required
Planning Support
- Assist with fundraising related mail outs
- Assist with fundraising related phone calls
- Assist with promoting events in traditional and social media
- Complete various other duties as required to help maintain a productive office workplace (database support, bag or envelope stuffing, administrative tasks)
Event Day Support
- Assist with registration
- Gift bag distribution
- Greet participants
- Various other duties as required
Qualifications
- Experience in the fundraising sector or the desire to learn relevant skills
- Have a sincere interest in supporting the mission of the ASNR and adults or seniors with a diagnosis of dementia
- Strong organizational abilities
- Ability to communicate with ASNR staff, the public and event attendees in a pleasant and positive manner
- Excellent teamwork, communication and active listening skills
- Dependable and punctual
Boundaries
- Comply with the policies, and procedures of the ASNR
- Maintain strictest of confidence with all matters related to ASNR and its clients and donors
- Health Guidelines must be followed or exceeded
Screening Requirements
- Complete an application
- Attend a One-to-one interview
- Provide two References
- Must be 18+ years of age or have a signed guardian waiver
Training Requirements
- Orientation to agency, ASNR programs, policies, and procedures
- Online ALZEducate Modules, AODA and WHMIS training
- Completion of Volunteer Workshop

Evaluation
The Coordinator of Volunteer Programs will be responsible for providing feedback to the volunteers in such a way that will allow the volunteer to grow and learn as part of their role. Once per year, volunteers who volunteer in this role in an ongoing capacity or in service for more than 1 year will partake in an annual review with the Coordinator of Volunteer Programs. If a volunteer with less than 1-year requests annual review one will be provided.
