It’s the most wonderful day of the year!
Did you score a good deal on Black Friday? Maybe you held out to see if the perfect gift for that special someone would go on sale on Cyber Monday. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good deal but there’s another day that means much more to me than those two major shopping events and that day is Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement held the first Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a day where individuals, charities, and businesses come together and rally for favourite causes. At the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, it’s an exciting and important day for all involved.
“It’s an opportunity to remind folks that over 50% of our operating funds comes from fundraised dollars – that’s over a million dollars raised annually,” says John Britton, CEO for the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. “Giving Tuesday is a great way to help people quickly and easily offer their support, especially during this most difficult of years.”
Make a donation and you can double your impact thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor who will be matching gifts up to $5,000. The anonymous donor had this to say about Giving Tuesday: “As a former caregiver, I have seen first hand how the Society supports those living with dementia, and those who support people with dementia. That is why I am matching donations on Giving Tuesday.”
We are so grateful to our anonymous donor for their generosity. Not only are they helping families living with dementia, but they are also motivating others to donate and do the same.
“COVID-19 has made every aspect of our work a major challenge, especially fundraising,” says John. “Your support on giving Tuesday will help us maximise our matching funds from our anonymous donor and help ensure we are here to provide critical help and support for those on the dementia journey in Nova Scotia.”
If you’re looking to give back this Giving Tuesday and make a difference, connect with your favourite charity. For those who chose to support the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, John wants you to know: “As always, your support is so very deeply appreciated! Our donors and supporters are our lifeblood, and we TRULY could not do what we do without you.”
