fonds champigny Robillard

Mission

The Champigny-Robillard Fund’s mission is to support research by providing awards to students pursuing a master’s degree. This program aims to advance knowledge and support people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other neurocognitive disorders, by improving quality of life and contributing to maintaining their autonomy.

Through a substantial bequest from Madame Laurette Champigny-Robillard, the Federation of Quebec Alzheimer Societies has established a fund dedicated to research on neurocognitive disorders in Quebec. We are sincerely grateful to all donors who have thus far also contributed to the Champigny-Robillard Fund.

It is thanks to their support that we can stimulate innovation and hope to make an impact on the daily lives of those affected by neurocognitive disorders and their loved ones.

A person-centred approach

The Champigny-Robillard Fund is characterized by its commitment to supporting person-centred research projects aimed at improving the quality of life for those living with the disease and their loved ones.

Quality of life notably includes to retain the ability to live with dignity, to remain in control over one’s life, and to maintain one’s autonomy.

Origins of the Champigny-Robillard Fund

The purpose of this initiative, developed by the Federation of Quebec Alzheimer Societies, is to establish a fund dedicated to Alzheimer disease’s research, in Quebec. The fund was launched in 2020, after receiving a substantial bequest on behalf of Madame Laurette Champigny-Robillard. This philanthropic gesture is consistent with the values and life’s work of this modern-day Quebec pioneer.

Mme Champigny Robillard

Madame Laurette Champigny-Robillard was a woman of heart and character, who devoted her life to advancing women’s rights, to advocate on behalf of those living in vulnerable situations and to improve living conditions of marginalized communities. Through her visionary commitment to civil society, public service, and communities, she has left a lasting imprint on Quebec’s history.

This bequest also serves as an homage to her son, Dr. Alain Robillard, a prominent neurologist at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital. Dr. Robillard has significantly contributed to the advancement of neurological practices, including playing an instrumental role in the establishment of the first Memory Clinic, in Montreal’s east end. This clinic’s renown, together with his numerous scientific contributions, has made him a sought-after speaker, both nationally and internationally. In addition, Dr Robillard spearheaded Quebec’s first Congress on Alzheimer and Related Diseases. Involved in governance, he sat on the Quebec Alzheimer Societies’ Board of Directors for many years. After a distinguished career, Dr. Robillard retired in 2022.

This fund aims at furthering our commitment to research, by supporting initiatives that will help advance our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and improve the quality of life of those impacted.
