U-First!® Advanced is an education program for health care providers with a direct care role who have already taken U-First!® and want to enhance their skills and ability to apply the U-First!® Framework.
The goals of the program are to:
- Deepen understanding and ability to apply the U-First!® framework
- Improve collaboration among all members of the team, including care partners
- Increase the wellbeing of people experiencing behaviour changes
- Reduce stress and increase job satisfaction for members of the team
Who should attend?
Note: Ideal length of time since taking U-First!® is 6 months-2 years
U-First!® Advanced is for people who have previously taken part in a U-First!® for Health Care Providers Workshop or e-learning course and want to enhance their skills and ability to apply the U-First!® Framework.
Learners include all those working in a paid role within a health care setting (e.g. Long-term care, Community Support Services, Acute Care, Day Program, etc.) and providing direct support in a variety of roles (e.g. personal support, activation, housekeeping, dietary, developmental services, etc.) to people experiencing behaviour changes as a result of dementia or other cognitive impairment.
Options include 6-hour workshops in-person or facilitated online through video conference. A 3-week, self-paced e-learning course will be available early in 2024.
What is the cost for the program?
The cost of U-First!® Advanced is $80 per person and includes all program materials. Group rates for organizations committing to train 30+ participants are available.
