First Link. Your first step to living well with dementia.

What is First Link
First Link® is a referral-based support program connecting individuals living with dementia and their care partners to essential services, advocacy, education, and community resources from the time of diagnosis and throughout their journey.
Through First Link®, clients gain access to:
Advocacy & Navigation – Support in accessing timely care, tailored services, and guidance to help families feel heard and empowered throughout the dementia journey.
The Learning Series – Practical and compassionate education sessions covering all stages of dementia, available to registered clients.
Support Groups – Monthly gatherings tailored for both care partners and individuals living with dementia. Current groups include the Lunch Club.
Resources & Therapy Kits – Access to a lending library, online tools like Alzeducate.ca, and three types of at-home Recreation Therapy Kits promoting connection and well-being.
Community Programs -
Minds in Motion®: A fun and active eight-week program combining physical activity and cognitive stimulation for people with early to mid-stage dementia and their care partners.
The Art Program: A four-week creative series using storytelling, painting, and writing to inspire self-expression, previously held at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery.
How to Access First Link
Getting connected is easy and you don’t need to wait for a health care provider to refer you.
Anyone can self-refer to First Link® by calling our office directly at 807-345-9556. Whether you're living with dementia, caring for someone, or simply looking for guidance, we’re here to help.
With your permission, your health care provider can also refer you to our First Link® staff, who will then contact you directly.
Through First Link®, you’ll be connected to local health services, education, and Alzheimer Society programs tailored to your needs, helping you learn about dementia, talk through concerns, and live well with the disease.
