eocf thank you

We are thrilled to announce that the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories has recently received generous funding from the Caring for Oil country 50/50 raffle by the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, these proceeds will be dedicated to an important cause: revamping the ASANT Café now "Help for Dementia" website.

Enhancing Our Online Presence

ASANT Café has been a crucial resource for individuals and families living with dementia in the province. It provides valuable information, support, and guidance for care partners and those navigating the challenges of dementia. Over the past year, the ASANT Café held 13 webinars with 614 people in attendance. These expert webinars and video presentations provide practical help and resources on topics ranging from lifestyle and brain health to finances, navigating sexuality and family coping strategies. However, it had the challenge of being user friendly and accessible.

Goals for the Website Revamp

With the funds from the 50/50 raffle, we plan to achieve the following goals:

  1. Improved User Experience: We aim to redesign the website to make it more user-friendly, ensuring that visitors can easily find the information they need. The new user dashboard will allow site users to personalize their content, save meetings, pre-register for meetings and save resources.
  2. Comprehensive Resources: We will expand our library of articles, videos, and interactive tools to provide more comprehensive support for caregivers and individuals living with dementia.
  3. Enhanced Accessibility: Our goal is to make the website more accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities. This includes implementing features such as text-to-speech, adjustable text sizes, and improved navigation.
  4. Community Engagement: We plan to integrate new features that foster a sense of community, such as discussion forums, support groups, and live chat options with experts.
  5. Up-to-Date Information: The revamp will include a commitment to regularly update the site with the latest research, treatment options, and news related to dementia.
