Honoring Generosity and Impact
November 15th is National Philanthropy Day
Every November, we pause to acknowledge and celebrate the profound influence of philanthropy worldwide. This special time allows us to recognize the individuals and organizations that generously contribute their time, skills, and resources to enhance our world. These acts of kindness each play a crucial role in supporting those affected by dementia in our community.
We understand that philanthropy extends far beyond financial contributions. Our appreciation encompasses dedicated volunteers facilitating support groups, sponsors funding vital research initiatives, and donors helping us provide essential resources to people living with dementia and their care partners. Each gesture, regardless of its scale, contributes to our larger mission and serves as a powerful reminder that every person can create positive change.
Terry Rudge volunteers and fundraises for the Society. He is a care partner to his wife Jean who was diagnosed with dementia over 10 years ago. Terry and Jean have been working with us since the early days of her diagnosis. He says:
The staff were so welcoming. They spent hours with us, talking about our situation. The people that work in that office have been just excellent right the way through. Providing us with information. Getting Jean into programs. Helping us, finally, when we had to move her into a home. At every step, we had the support of those workers. We never hesitated to drop in or to phone. And that’s why I offered to help out with fundraising.
Recognizing Over 20 years of Dedication
The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories is profoundly grateful to IG Wealth Management for their unwavering support and significant impact on individuals living with dementia.
Since the early 2000s, IG Wealth Management has been a beacon of hope. Their sponsorship of the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, which expanded nationally in 2018, and their sponsorship and participation in the Alzheimer’s Face Off Pro-Am hockey tournament have been invaluable. They go beyond fundraising by involving their families and sharing personal stories, raising awareness, and reducing stigma.
Their efforts have raised over $3.8 million, directly supporting thousands of individuals living with dementia, their families, and care partners. IG Wealth Management's commitment has touched countless lives, making a profound difference across the province and beyond.
Will Omar from IG Wealth Management had this to say:
We are motivated to support because of so many personal connections, like loved ones affected by the disease, and we recognize the importance of this cause in raising awareness and funding for research and care. By sponsoring the Alzheimer Society, we align our broader mission of empowering individuals through financial planning, including those facing the unique challenges posed by dementia.
