Ambere

As the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories grows and strives to support people affected by dementia, we are excited to introduce Ambere Porter, who will lead the Society’s client service team as the new Vice President of Programs and Partnerships & Chief Service Officer.

Ambere is a Certified Change Practitioner and holds a Master of Arts in Leadership. This experience, coupled with many years working in community-based social service delivery programs, makes Ambere a perfect fit for our organization and the people we serve. We are confident that Ambere will make significant contributions towards our strategic goals to maximize reach, build capacity and continue providing consistent, person-centred quality delivery.

In 2009, Ambere's keen interest in governance and systems thinking grew into an opportunity to return to learning. Ambere completed a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University in 2011. This program enhanced and complimented her pragmatic nature and mentoring-style leadership competencies. As a life-long learner, she values new perspectives and enjoys collaborating and trying new approaches. Ambere recently completed certification in Prosci as a Certified Change Practitioner. She is actively working on her application to become a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP).

Ambere is a positive and charismatic leader with extensive experience managing large complex teams, building robust partnerships, and changing organizations. With many years working in crime prevention and community-based social service delivery programs, Ambere based her commitment to serving Canadians on her core values of authenticity, creativity, and trust. Notably, she has led the Action Coalition on Human Trafficking (ACT) and the Crime Stoppers Association of Edmonton & Northern Alberta (CSAENA). Both organizations have demonstrated success through the quality of their partnerships and the strength of their public relations.

Ambere looks forward to bringing her experience and open heart to the Alzheimer Society, learning from the expert staff and dedicated volunteers while committing to our common goals and mission.
