Course: Building Dementia-Friendly Communities

Learn how community members, employees and organizations can help to build dementia-friendly communities where people living with dementia and their care partners feel welcome, included and supported.

Welcome! We’re glad you’re interested in discovering how each of us can contribute to creating dementia-friendly communities. Whether you're a community member or looking to make your workplace more supportive for clients, this course offers practical strategies to help you welcome, include and support people living with dementia and their care partners.This course includes four modules with a variety of interactive activities to help you learn the material and check your knowledge as you go. There are also additional resources that you can use in your day-to-day interactions.

Once you have finished all four course modules, you will receive a certificate of completion. Note that the quizzes and activities in each module are not scored and do not count toward your certificate. When you’ve completed the course, we would love to hear your feedback through the course evaluation survey.

Audience: Community members, organization leaders and employees in retail, restaurant, recreation, library, transportation and financial sector workplaces.

Estimated time: approximately 70 minutes

Module 1: approximately 15 minutes

Module 2: approximately 25 minutes

Module 3: approximately 15 minutes

Module 4: approximately 15 minutes
