Yukon dementia events in May 2025

Dementia education events are coming to the Yukon this month, designed to promote brain health and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

While the Alzheimer Society of B.C. continues to offer a range of vital support services, including the First Link® Yukon Dementia Helpline and online education for people affected by dementia, the organization will also be hosting free in-person events in the Yukon that are open to the public, happening in Dawson City and Whitehorse. 

Event schedule

Introduction to brain health 

  • Date: May 27, 2025 (Tuesday) 
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
  • Location: The Downtown (Coast Hotel) - Conference room, Dawson City

Key topics include:

  • Ways to maintain or improve brain health by exploring topics including risk reduction of dementia, memory and brain training.
  • Strategies for communicating with people living with dementia.

 
Dementia and progression

  • Date: May 28, 2025 (Wednesday) 
  • Time: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  
  • Location: Golden Age Society, Whitehorse

Key topics include:

  • Understand different types of dementia.
  • What to expect as dementia progresses.
  • How to manage communication and behaviour changes.
