Breakfast to Remember
Breakfast to Remember events create awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as raising funds for the many programs and services offered by the Alzheimer Society of B.C. in support of people affected by dementia. Don’t miss the opportunity to connect with a wide range of corporate and community professionals.
Breakfast to Remember 2024
This February and March, more than 470 business and community leaders joined us at Breakfast to Remember in Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria to take action to change the future for the more than 85,000 British Columbians living with dementia.
Each event provided a unique perspective on the disease. Attendees were inspired by a variety of speakers, including a panel of experts on emergency preparedness, leaders from health-care, business and research sectors, as well as caregivers. Through their diverse insights, guests gained valuable understanding of issues that were timely and relevant to their communities.
Thank you to the speakers, sponsors, donors, volunteer committees and attendees for helping to raise more than $265,000 to support the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s programs and services and enable dementia research.
Dementia doesn’t just affect a single person – it affects their entire community. Currently, family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours provide almost 68 million hours of unpaid care to people living with dementia in B.C. alone. Caregiving has a significant impact on family members’ financial stability and their ability to maintain productivity in the workplace. Projections show by 2050, support provided will increase to nearly 200 million hours of unpaid care per year.
