The Board of Directors of the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon has appointed Cathryn France as Interim CEO.
After five years of service, Jennifer Lyle leaves the organization to become CEO of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC. Cathryn, currently the Society’s Chief Development Officer, will step into the role as CEO effective June 19, 2026
“On behalf of the Board, I want to express our deep gratitude to Jen for her vision and commitment as CEO of the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon,” says Valerie Mann, KC, Board Chair. “Over the past five years, Jen’s exceptional leadership has strengthened the organization, supported a talented staff team and advanced our mission of supporting people affected by dementia across B.C. and the Yukon.”
During Jennifer’s tenure, the Society continued to expand its support, education, advocacy and research work at a time when the needs of people affected by dementia have continued to grow.
“This decision is bittersweet; over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside an immensely talented team and to help make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia in B.C. and the Yukon,” says Jennifer. “I am so proud of the impact we have made and have such confidence in the organization’s ability to move the mission forward.”
The Board has appointed Cathryn France as Interim CEO while it embarks on a CEO search. “We are very fortunate to have Cathryn step into this role. She brings deep organizational knowledge, extensive leadership experience and a longstanding commitment to the communities we serve,” says Valerie. “She is a thoughtful and steady leader who is committed to the Society’s mission, values and strategic priorities. She will be supported as Interim CEO by a strong Executive Leadership Team and an engaged Board as the organization continues its important work.”
As Chief Development Officer, Cathryn has played a key leadership role in advancing the Society’s work through philanthropy, partnerships, advocacy and organizational growth.
“I am honoured to serve the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon during this transition,” says Cathryn. “This is an organization with a clear mission, strong values and an extraordinary team. Jen’s leadership has helped position the Society well for the future, and I look forward to working with our staff, volunteers, partners and Board as we continue advancing our vision of a world where people affected by dementia thrive.”
