Seeking Candidates for the Board of Directors
The Nominating Committee seeks expressions of interest to serve on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan prior to the Annual General Meeting each year. Board members are elected to two-year terms by the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan membership at our Annual General Meeting. Nominations open mid-February each year and close towards the end of March.
The call for expression of interest to serve on the 2024-2025 Board is now closed. The call for applications for 2025-2026 Board will be posted in February 2025.
In addition to a passion for dementia, the Board prioritized candidates with the following experience and background for recruitment in 2024-2025:
- Accounting/Business/Finance
- Governance and Strategic Planning
- Human Resources/ Experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

Serve on our Board
The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (ASOS) is a charitable organization that provides support, education and information, and advocates for the best care possible for people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, their families and their caregivers. The ASOS supports research efforts into finding causes and cure of Alzheimer's disease and is Saskatchewan's leading dementia care and research charity.

Duties & Requirements
Requirements to Serve on the Board
Directors must be a member of the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan and meet eligibility requirements in accordance with legislation and bylaws. Become a member today.
The Non-Profit Corporations Act, 1995 requires that directors:
- Are over the age of 18
- A resident of Saskatchewan
- Are acting in personal capacity as an individual
- Have not been found to be of unsound mind by a court in Canada or elsewhere
- Do not currently have the status of bankrupt
The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan requires all directors to complete a criminal record check to serve on the board.
Conflict of interest
Nominees are not eligible to serve on the board if they have a conflict of interest:
- If any Director has any personal or corporate interest in any matter other than the best interest for the welfare of the ASOS of which s/he is a Director, there is a potential conflict of interest.
- Directors of the Board and family members of Directors shall not qualify to be hired as staff; staff and family members of staff shall not qualify to be members of the Board.
- Directors, staff and family members of either shall not qualify to bid for any ASOS contracts for employment, supplies and services

The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan uses the Relationship Model™ of governance, leadership and management.
People live and work within relationships. Relationships are the human operating system. In order to make our lives and our work successful and fulfilling, we need to apply the natural principles of relationships by establishing the values, structures and the processes of relationships throughout our organization.
