Who makes dementia friendly communities? We all do!

We are proud to share our first ever Dementia Friendly Communities Highlight Report that showcases the success and support the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan has had in building a more dementia friendly Saskatchewan. We thank the numerous local businesses, organizations, shared interest groups, social clubs, and individual community members across the province who have joined and contributed to our community of support for people living with dementia and their care partners.

The report also outlines how you and/or your organization can get involved and discusses our new, three-year partnership and Dementia Friendly Communities Project with Conexus Credit Union.

Dementia Friends

If you have not already signed up to be a dementia friend, we invite you to do so.

Dementia Friends learn more about dementia through emails and learning opportunities provided by the Alzheimer Society and use this knowledge in their everyday interactions.

Feel free to encourage other people in your personal or professional life who may benefit from a better understanding of dementia to sign up as well.

Other Updates

The Alzheimer Society of Canada’s Landmark Study – Volume 1 estimates that 10 or more people will develop dementia every day in Saskatchewan. That works out to be one person every 2.5 hours. We will be launching a Risk Reduction Presentation early this spring and hope you will join us to learn more about how you can reduce your risk of developing dementia.

We will also be continuing our work as a collaborating organization in the Dementia Supports in Rural Saskatchewan project. Dementia Supports in Rural Saskatchewan is a multi-year, federally funded project aimed at increasing the social inclusion of people living with dementia and their care partners in Yorkton, Melville, and the surrounding rural areas.
