On March 17, 2022, we hosted our annual Heads up for Healthier Brains Forum. We proudly welcomed a presentation from Dr. Larry Chambers, Research Director for the Niagara Regional Campus at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University and former scientific advisor to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Dr. Chambers' presentation was based on evidence that demonstrates you can increase the ability of the brain and mind, whatever your age. Dr. Chambers' research also informed his recently co-authored book, "Increase Your Brainability and Reduce Your Risk of Dementia."
During the presentation, Dr. Chambers spoke to the widespread confusion that exists between dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and normal aging, as well as practical steps individuals; families; communities; and health care providers can take to help manage the major risk factors of dementia.
"It provided me basic info on how everyone should be taking steps to keep their brain healthy, no matter their age. It also gave me hope for the future for my dad and my own health as I age."
